About the event

Everyone in the Bay Area needs to get personally prepared for the major earthquakes in our future. But daily life makes it hard to keep up on our preparedness ambitions.

This informative event is geared toward people who know a good bit about earthquakes and engineering but have as much trouble as anyone keeping their emergency kits and plans up to date. Together, we can get up to speed on the latest advice and prepare some important gear.

The event will be held online (Zoom info will be shared via the Berkeley EERI chapter email). Following the introduction of the event and the panelists, participants will rotate in small groups through preparedness "stations," each featuring a local expert who will brief you on a topic, from Earthquake Early Warning, the latest risk projections, and informative apps to how to deal with challenges such as water supply, telecomm service, and public safety power supply shut-offs. Students, faculty, and staff are invited. Students will receive a free emergency kit (details will be provided later).

This event is FREE with sponsorship by EERI-NC, and co-hosted with the EERI Berkeley Student Chapter.
